Last on the Card- January 2023

Start of the month, so time for my entry to Brian’s Last on the Card challenge. I didn’t take any photos with the Moto g50 last month, so just the 2 images to show.

The Canon EOS5D mkIII was employed for football as usual…

…The last shot from a 3-1 defeat at Margate on the 28th☹️

I should have travelled with the team to Lewes on the 31st but developed a stomach chill – no way I’m going on the coach with that😐 It was a bad result there too and we’re now in the relegation zone with a very busy February ahead of us🙄

Epi asked me to meet her at the station late in the evening on the 31st so I slung the Fujifilm X-Pro2 over my shoulder. I took this shot of a tree sculpture at our local Methodist church on the walk back…

…Needs cropping but I think a shot I took from a different angle will be the one that gets published. Anyway, that was around 10:30pm so it’s probably the closest shot to challenge deadline that I’ve posted😂

After a busy weekend, it’s time to catch up with Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge.

Part of my busy weekend was a trip to Margate for an Away football fixture, so here’s an Action shot from the match with one of the Margate players performing an Armlock to stop our Attacker getting free…

Finally, a piece of Aviation history – An Armstrong Whitworth Argosy belonging to Air Bridge Carriers…

…Photographed at Speke Airport in March 1981. The eagle-eyed Aviation fans will probably notice the Piper Apache parked behind too 😅

Finally, from the Moto g50, also on the 29th…

…Northern Line unit 51525 leads a 6-car train into Brent Cross station. There’s a short story behind this one. I was coming out of Brent Cross Shopping Centre when I was approached by a lost young lady from somewhere in Eastern Europe. She needed to get to the Underground so that she could travel to Mile End but, of course, she couldn’t find the station and her mobile map wasn’t much help! The route from the shopping centre to the station is a tortuous one, so I realised I wouldn’t be able to describe how to get there and she’d probably get even more lost. Instead, I walked her through the maze of footpaths across the River Brent and over the North Circular Road to the station. That was my good deed for the day and some healthy exercise to boot 😊
