Moody Scone

Definitely not a jam and cream scone with tea πŸ˜‰ I hope this brings out the dark side of Scone where the
Kings of Scotland were crowned. As anyone who has read Shakespeare and in particular the tale of MacBeth will understand, this remains a place of destiny.

This is a shot where I did most of the work in the camera – deliberately underexposing to bring in the moody sky and using the Fujifilm Acros setting with a simulated red filter. Camera was the X100F and the original exposure was ISO800 f8 at 1/1900th. I then ran the jpeg through the free Nik software to get the effect you see. Please note that Nik is once again not free as google have sold it on so new versions will cost money should you wish to experiment 😦

    1. Hi Amy – I was anticipating what I wanted to achieve in the final picture. I could probably have got the same effect from a correctly exposed image when I processed it but the noise caused by the processing might have been more obtrusive. I have subsequently done a colour version from the RAW file for the Geograph website and I had to work quite hard dodging and burning to achieve something resembling normality πŸ˜‰
