Summer’s Banshees

Summer’s Banshees
scream across
blue evening skies
Invisible in the haze
of long summer days
and petrol-fumed
barbeque smoke
Shrill shrieks, Send shivers
Set teeth on edge
of those unsuspecting
un-realising souls below

An ode to the visiting Swifts over London by Martin Addison – 09/07/2013

  1. The sights and smells of summer all succinctly captured in a few lines. You’re such a wordsmith Martin.

    • Thank you Dan – I’m just glad that we seem to have finally got a summer, though the Swifts were a couple of weeks late arriving this year.

  2. oooh yes, shivers!

  3. I can picture it, so well done! 🙂
