Summer’s Banshees

Summer’s Banshees
scream across
blue evening skies
Invisible in the haze
of long summer days
and petrol-fumed
barbeque smoke
Shrill shrieks, Send shivers
Set teeth on edge
of those unsuspecting
un-realising souls below

An ode to the visiting Swifts over London by Martin Addison – 09/07/2013
